Advantages to Building Your Own Computer

Building your own computer puts you leaps and bounds ahead of the rest. You can manage and troubleshoot your. This is a huge learning experience, especially if you are a first timer. If your computer ever fails to work, since you built it you should be able to fix it. No more waiting on the computer store and having to pay hourly fees.  You built your own computer now you can fix it.

There are also a huge system performance advantage, because you can buy the top quality parts. Most ,anufacturers are always trying to save a dime, so fomr them you can get a stable system but for 3D games it really is not that fast.

Building a computer really isn't that hard.  I think it is mostly the intimidation factor that people need to get past.  Yeah there are a lot of chips, wires, and screws but computers have come a long way now.  Most of the important stuff to connect is color coded so there is no more guessing. This is not something that I would recommend for businesses to do on a regular basis, but every computer professional should build a computer at least once.

Generic Parts

The most important reasons why your computer is easier to manage is that you know what parts are installed on your computer, and if you build it right you will avoid purchasing generic parts. The absence of generic parts alone ensures more reliability.  Generic parts tends to have compatibility problems, the companies that make generic parts are hard to contact and when you do, their customer service leaves much to desire.  Since there are new operating systems coming out you rely on the manufacturer to provide new drivers.  Generic manufacturers lag to support their hardware with new and updated drivers.

Brand Name Parts

Brand Name companies' parts on average work faster, mostly because they meet all the computer compatibility standards. They are more reliable, and if they do fail, you can bet they have a good warranty.  The companies will always research and maintain the drivers to their equipment.  So when you install the component you can go to the manufacturer's website and download the newest drivers.  Many times I have updated my video card drivers and the performance increase was amazing!
