The MotherboardThe Motherboard is the central piece that all the other components connect (or eventually connect) to. In order to be able to successfully put your computer together, you must know what all the slots, ports, and plugs are for. Below is a picture of a Pentium II motherboard. You can put your mouse cursor over the names in the right hand column and yellow arrows will point to the corresponding part of the picture. If you click the name of the port you will get a description of the port and its use.
You need to know what each slot is for so you can put the pieces together correctly. Also READ the motherboard manual! It may contain special instructions for setting the correct speed and voltage of the CPU you are going to install. Most newer motherboards detect these setting automatically, or you set it in the BIOS. Skip to:
