Locking Down your Mail Server

A successful lockdown involves two tasks - setting up sending authentication (SMTPAUTH) and spam filtering.

I took the two SMTP AUTH articles and re-wrote them with easier instructions. Click here for instructions to setup SMTP AUTH on your Sendmail Server

Spam Filtering - and Virus Filtering - why not!

This will get EXTREMELY complicated!  Make sure your mail server is working properly.  Make a backup of your mail server files:

cd /etc/mail
cp sendmail.cf sendmail.cf.old
cp sendmail.mc sendmail.mc.old
